Service Description
This course is suitable for Registered practitioners, along with medics within Fire and Rescue Services, Police, Coastguard, RNLI, Search and Rescue Agencies, High Risk Industries and Events Level 4 first aider cover. Penthrox®also often referred to as the 'Green Whistle' is widely used in Australia and New Zealand and is now rapidly being recognised as a fast-acting and cost-effective pain relief option in the UK. Penthrox® is simple, lightweight and self-administered. It provides superior pain relief for conscious patients experiencing moderate to severe acute traumatic pain compared to the current standard analgesic treatments (including paracetamol, NSAIDs and opioids). Penthrox is a prescription only medication but can be administered by non-health care professionals (including First Aiders, First Responders or Rescue Technicians) who have received appropriate training AND are authorised to do so under regulated organisational Standard Operating Procedures or Patient Group Directions.
