Our basic observation training course is aimed at students and carers who want to improve their understanding in healthcare by learning how to undertake, document and report their observations
The main aims of the courses are to provide:

Vital signs – pulse, blood pressure (manual and/or digital), respiration rate, oxygen saturation
Vital sign – language associated with
Neurological observations
Axillary, oral, tympanic temperature
Blood sugar monitoring
record keeping, consent and confidentiality will also be discussed.

The combined Cannulation and Venepuncture course will develop your knowledge in anato­my and physiology in relation to peripheral IV cannula­tion and venepuncture. It will deliver the knowledge and principles and the importance of aseptic non touch technique (ANTT), highlight the legal, professional and ethical issues related to peripheral IV cannulation and venepuncture. Summarise the key aspects of aftercare, including documentation and identify possible adverse incidences that may occur. This Course will provide you with the theory, knowledge, principles and technical skills which underpin the clinical art of Cannulation and Venepuncture. To be a valid & competent practitioner in this skill you must be assessed and signed off as competent in your professional log book by an experienced registered practitioner in the clinical settings, who is already trained, currently practicing and proficient in this skill.

This one day course is designed to teach you how to effectively assess and manage acute wounds with suture closure. The day is divided into theory and practice, giving you the opportunity to safely practice.

Types of analgesia & Lidocaine techniques
Documentation & consent
Suture material & techniques
This workshop gives staff the theoretical knowledge required to undertake this skill, however they are required to obtain sign off in their own clinical area through observed practice before they can perform this skill independently.

This resource provides information for hospital and community-based nurses, medical students and junior doctors on different types of wounds and highlights the importance of early intervention coupled with the fact that the early warning signs and symptoms are easily overlooked in wounds that can deteriorate rapidly and need to be understood as systemic diseases rather than local lesions. The aim is to reduce the risk of complications and maximise patient outcomes, which curbs health care costs. The target audience for this course may include Staff Nurse/ Community Nurse (equivalent to UK Band 5)

The objective of this course is to equip healthcare professionals with all the information and skills they require to provide expert, compassionate care to patients who are in the final stages of their life.

Some key areas that this course covers includes:

End of life healthcare standards, legislation, and guidelines.
Person-centred end of life care plans.
How to recognise when someone is entering the last stages of their life.
Symptoms and pain relief during the last stages of life.
After death care and support available for family members.

Providing sensitive and compassionate care to patients and their families. Staff that are trained in end of life care are equipped with the knowledge and skills they require to provide respectful, and compassionate care for their patients or residents in their final days.

This course will benefit supporting organisations with Staff that can competently and efficiently assess and manage patients with minor injury conditions.

Staff will have improved confidence with managing patients with minor injuries across a range of settings.

On completion of the course the student will have increased confidence and skills to assess patients with a variety of presenting complaints within minor injury conditions including; joint examinations, neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand, back and hip examination, knee, lower leg and ankle/foot. Practical skills including Bandaging, Slings, suturing, Plastering and splinting are included.

This 1-day intensive ECG interpretation workshop provides a comprehensive overview of ECG interpretation for nursing and medical students or anyone new to Emergency Medicine, and wider healthcare or looking to gain confidence in understanding ECGs. A workbook is provided, both for in course learning and post course reference. An end of course MCQ Exam is required to be completed to successfully pass this course

This in-house trauma course was developed to reflect the complexity of trauma patient care within the Emergency Department (ED) in a way that matches how 21st century nurses learn and attain knowledge. It is underpinned by current trauma care principles, NICE guidelines, and TQUiN competencies. The course combines practical teaching sessions, workshops, simulation training and non-technical skills.
Band 5 and 6 nurses who are new to the Emergency Department (ED) are eligible to attend the course, along with medical and nursing students wishing to advance their career within emergency medicine. This course will provide all the basic trauma skills required of nurses, AHP and medical students, experiencing trauma care for the first time.

Penthrox Methoxyflurane is the new hand-held emergency pain relief inhaler which delivers analgesic medication quickly to individuals involved in accidents and injuries involving trauma. This medication has transformed the management of emergency pain relief both in the pre-hospital and in-hospital settings.

This half-day course on Injection Administration Training provides participants with an opportunity to gain both theoretical knowledge and simulated practice experience in a friendly classroom environment.
The course is intended to provide a comprehensive understanding of injection techniques and routes, as well as common injectable medications (excluding intravenous administration).

Throughout the course, learners will have access to a range of educational resources and simulation equipment to facilitate their learning. The course will be delivered by experienced and current clinical educators who are extremely knowledgeable in injection administration.

By the end of the course, participants will have demonstrated theoretical understanding and practical competency in injection administration. The skills and knowledge gained through this course will enable participants to provide safe and effective injection administration in a clinical setting, ensuring the best possible outcomes for patients.

Confirmation or verification of death is defined as deciding whether a person is actually deceased. Verification of death can be undertaken by a competent registered nurse in line with their employer’s policies to determine local agreements about the circumstances in which this can be done. In contrast, certification of death is done by a registered medical practitioner.

The intraosseous Vascular Access course will teach clinicians how to use the EZ-IO drill to place intraosseous lines in the proximal tibia, distal tibia and proximal humerus using simulated bones. The course covers the indications for intraosseous line insertion including the need for immediate venous access. The principles and practice of technique, indications and contraindications to intraosseous access will be taught along with device removal and after care.
